Conclusion of the War
The Civil war ended on April 9, 1865 with Robert E. Lee's surrender of his Army of Northern Virginia. 5 days after the Civil War ended President Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth. In the aftermath of the Civil War 1,030,000 people died due to the fighting and 620,000 of the casualties were soldiers. America suffered a terrible time on the 4 years that cost them one of their greatest presidents. Lincoln's greatest fear after the war was that one day the United States would become divided again one day. Let us hope that this will never happen again...
