The American Civil War was a civil war that occured in the United States of American from 1861-1865. The war was caused when eleven southern states seceded from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America.  The states in the C.S.A consited of South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Lousiana, and Texas.  Some of the large issues that helped cause the Civil War were, State's Rights, Tariffs, Social Structure, and most importantly slavery. The War began on April 12th, 1861 and ended on April 9th, 1861 with the surrender of the Confederacy. The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars in American history. It was the only war and hopefully the last fought between citizens of the United States. Despite America's problems it should always remember the words of its Plegde of Allegiance; One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
